Dest injury report
Dest also missed the final batch of the World Cup qualifiers in CONCACAF with the United States although was expected to return at the end of the international break. But the recovery has been going slow and it is expected that he won’t reach full fitness for another two weeks, when Barça plays against Cádiz on 18 April.
This means that the 21-year-old will miss the quarter-final games against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League, a tournament that Xavi opted to use Dest as a starter with Dani Alves being left out. This is unfortunate timing for the USMNT player because it seemed that prior to the injury he was gaining Xavi’s trust.
It’s another setback for his future at Camp Nou and according to the latest report, Dest could be included in negotiations with Bayern Munich in order to bring in Robert Lewandowski in the summer. Other clubs interested in signing the 21-year-old are Chelsea, AS Roma and Leeds United.
