Sergiño Dest’s future remains up in the air with transfer deadline day fast approaching. After Xavi made it clear that the USMNT player is not part of his plans with Barcelona, a few different options have started to open up for the North American - one of them being Manchester United.

It was recently reported that United manager Erik Ten Hag would have given the green light to sign Sergiño Dest. Aaron Wan-Bissaka does not feature in the Dutch coach’s plans and he wants a player capable of competing with Diogo Dalot.

On Tuesday, Youtuber and specialist in issues concerning Barcelona, Adría Sánchez, reported on social media that Sergiño Dest would be open to leaving Barcelona - but only to Manchester United. The English club is his preferred option, although the move will depend on what happens with Wan-Bissaka in the final days of the the market window.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports News announced that after announcing the signing of Antony, and securing goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on loan, United would seriously consider making a last-minute move for Sergiño Dest. They add that if United can guarantee Dest’s arrival, they would accept one of the offers that they have received for Wan-Bissaka, reportedly from Crystal Palace and West Ham.

Dest’s future will be resolved in the next few hours with the possibility that he will reach an agreement with United increasing. Should the deal go through, be will be reunited with Erik Ten Hag, who he worked under during his time at Ajax.
