Seven Major League Soccer franchises decline to sign Marcelo
According to information from AS USA, the former Real Madrid captain was offered to several clubs in MLS, including LAFC and LA Galaxy.
Players from all over the world are choosing to play in Major League Soccer with the latest superstar expected to arrive in to MLS being Gareth Bale and the Welsh star is set to play in LAFC for the remainder of the season and through 2023.
Marcelo wanted to play in MLS
Another player that wanted to continue his playing career in the US is Brazilian, Marcelo. The 34-year-old was offered to seven franchises in Major League Soccer, including Los Angeles FC and LA Galaxy, but they declined to offer him a contract because of his age according to information gathered by AS USA.
Marcelo left Real Madrid following their fifth UEFA Champions League final victory in May and after winning a record-breaking 25th trophy with the La Liga giants. The veteran defender was an unused substitute in the 1-0 win over Liverpool in the final and only played 93 minutes that tournament.
The Brazilian defender wanted to play in Major League Soccer but now he is expected to remain in Europe’s top tier. AC Milan, Real Valladolid and Fenerbahce are among the possible destinations for Marcelo as the transfer window continues to gather pace during the summer months.
