Spanish television sports program El Chiringuito reported that Sevilla FC were set to have a meeting with Santiago Giménez’s agent with a view to bringing the former Cruz Azul man to LaLiga. However, sources close to the player have told AS that there has been no approach from the Andalusian club or with the player’s agents who is the player’s father, Christian “Chaco” Giménez.

Giménez arrived at Feyenoord in the summer of 2022 and has become one of the Rotterdam team’s leading strikers. The Mexican striker has scored a total of 12 goals in the Eredivisie and another three in the KNVB Cup. The Mexican was also instrumental in the club’s progression in the Europa League and scored five goals before his team was eliminated from the competition. His 20 goals in his debut season in European football have, naturally aroused the interest of several clubs.

The striker failed to secure a place in the Mexico squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and has openly expressed his intention to win a title in Holland with his current team eight points clear of PSV in the Eredivisie table with four games to go until the end of the championship.

Gimenez’s twenty goals this season to date has seen him tie with Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández and Luis García, as the Mexican players with the most goals in their first season in Europe.
