Pumas goalkeeper Julio González, along with América defender Ramón Juárez, are set to be named as the two surprise inclusions in Jaime Lozano’s upcoming Mexico squad when El Tri face Ghana and Germany.

According to information from TUDN, manager Jaime Lozano has decided to give a first call-up to González and Juárez, given their strong performances for their respective teams in the Apertura 2023 campaign.

Lozano set to name same goalkeepers plus González

In Julio’s case, the idea that Lozano has is to integrate him into the group of goalkeepers that he called up for the previous international break, which was made up of Guillermo Ochoa, Ángel Malagón and Toño Rodríguez.

González has been in Pumas’ starting side in all 11 games so far this season, leaving the experienced Gil Alcalá on the bench, a player who returned to the club this season in search of minutes between the sticks. González has been part of Pumas’ strong form, and has only let in 14 goals.

Juárez, for his part, is one of the revelations of the season at the back for América, who currently lead the division after 11 games. He has played in 7 matches so far this season, starting in six of them.

Who else will be in the Mexico squad?

Another name on Jaime Lozano’s list who will most likely raise eyebrows is that of Hirving Lozano, who is set to be called up for the games against Ghana and Germany.

When do Mexico play?

El Tri will play against Ghana on October 14 (KO 7:10 p.m. ET & 4:10 p.m. PT) and Germany on 17 October (KO 8:10 p.m. ET & 17:10 p.m. PT).
