The European champions boast incredible midfield depth, with the likes of Rodri, Pedri, Mikel Merino, Fabián Ruiz and Martín Zubimendi competing for places. But the real star of the show is Lamine Yamal, the 18-year-old sensation who can already stake a claim to be one of the best players on the planet.
Spain topped Group H with seven points from three games and have continued to build momentum in the knockout stages, dispatching Austria 3-0 in the round of 32 before edging Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal with a last-minute goal from Mikel Merino in the last 16.

Spain’s round-of-16 victory over neighbors Portugal set up a quarterfinal tie against Belgium, who came back from the dead to defeat Senegal in extra time in the round of 32 before comfortably beating co-hosts the United States in the last 16.

Who could Spain play in the semifinal?
If Spain make it through, that will set up a mouthwatering semifinal against France, who have arguably been the standout team in the tournament so far. The 2018 winners have won all six games they have played, with victories over Sweden, Paraguay and, most recently, Morocco in the knockout stage.

Who could Spain play in the World Cup final?
If Spain make it all the way to the World Cup final, they will take on whichever team emerges from the other side of the bracket. Argentina and England are the favorites to advance, although Switzerland and Norway are also in contention to reach the World Cup final.
