Spanish FA chief Louzán, on Finalissima: “time is running out”
The RFEF president claimed that a definitive verdict will be taken within the next 48 hours whether the match against Argentina will finally be played in Qatar.

The president of the Spanish Football Federation, Rafael Louzán, maintained that all parties are working on a solution regarding the Finalissima and need to decide whether it will ultimately be played in Qatar or not.
“We must extend our solidarity to countries like Qatar and Saudi Arabia. We have a problem, but so do they. They are experiencing this 24 hours a day. We are monitoring the situation. We are waiting for a decision to be made within the next 48 hours. We have a signed agreement with UEFA and a subcontract for six matches. We are giving them that timeframe. It will be very quick. Time is running out. Both matches are very important for the World Cup, beyond just playing in the World Cup,” the official pointed out.

And he added: “Everyone at home in Spain is involved in finding a solution. We’ve just come back from Turkey with the women’s national team and we are going to repatriate 180 colleagues from those countries (Qatar and Saudi Arabia). There is a team of eight people working on it and some have to be brought by road from different countries to get them to Spain as soon as possible. I hope they will be back in Spain soon.”

The London Stadium (home to Premier League side West Ham United) has been cited as an alternative venue with Benfica’s Da Luz demerging as another possible contender should the situation in the Middle East remain precarious and staging the Argentina vs Spain game offer a security concern.
