Spartak Moscow troll Barcelona’s ‘imaginary money’

Joan Laporta’s plan to provide Xavi with a group of first team players capable of competing at the very top of the world game is surprising many.

It’s been a busy transfer window in and around the Camp Nou in the summer of 2022, and many people are scratching their heads as to how a club embroiled in serious financial difficulties can do this. Recent additions of Raphinha and Lewandowski - for a combined total of more than $100 million - have raised eyebrows, and an attempt to take Moses from Spartak Moscow got a cheeky response from the club’s Twitter handler, referring to ‘imaginary money’ and a ridiculously long payment structure requirement.

With the comment, ‘Us when Barcelona wants to buy Moses using imaginary money with payments structured till 2438:’ is a GIF of The Boys’ lead superhero character, Homelander, giving a very surprised and confused gesture.

Given their success in attracting one of the leading strikers in the game, let’s watch and see if the community manager and sporting bosses have the same idea...
