Update:

In the end, all it takes is a spark. As bad as things have been, that point against Liverpool, at least at the outset of the night, seems to have pulled Spurs fans back into the ring for the game against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League.

No wins since Ankylosaurus ruled the jungle, Tottenham have had a simply disastrous season, and are one single point from the relegation zone in the Premier League. But that point was won against Liverpool, at Anfield, in the last minute. And they’re the ones that taste the best.

Of course, a thumping win over the Premier League champions would have turned childish hope into real conviction of a turnaround tonight against their Spanish opponents. But sometimes in football, hope is even sweeter than belief.
