Stellar line-up confirmed for ‘Game4Ukraine’ at Stamford Bridge

The charity game in aid of Ukraine is the brainchild of Andriy Shevchenko and Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko and will take place on Saturday, 5 August in London.

An impressive lineup of players from the recent past will take to the pitch at Stamford Bridge as the home to Chelsea FC opens its doors to the Game4Ukraine on Saturday (5 August) with the project an initiative of of former Milan and Chelsea legend Andriy Shevchenko and current Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Game4Ukraine’s goal is to raise funds to begin the re-building of schools across Ukraine and will begin with the Mykhailo-Kotsiubynskyi School in Chernihiv Oblast which was destroyed by Russian missiles last year.

The project has also secured the full support of Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Hayes vs Wenger

The two teams will be managed by current Chelsea women’s manager Emma Hayes (blue team) with the yellow team set to be overseen by legendary Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

A high profile lineup of players, many held dear by the Stamford Bridge faithful (Gianfranco Zola, Samuel Eto’o, Joe Cole, Michael Essien) will take to the pitch with other big names from the recent past such as Gilberto Da Silva, Gerard Pique and Robert Pires.

Music interlude

There will be a special extended half-time break with musical guests such as The Pretenders, former Spice Girl Melanie C, Tom Walker and Tom Grennan set to perform.

All the proceeds from ticket sales, sponsorship and a sales special range of merchandise available on the day will go towards the re-construction efforts in Ukraine.
