Things go from bad to worse for Rayados. Reports have emerged that their winger, Jesús Corona, was arrested early Wednesday morning for drunk driving (DUI) in the municipality of San Pedro Garza García, part of the Monterrey Metropolitan area.

RG La Deportiva journalist Willie González revealed the news, saying that “I am able to confirm that a Monterrey player has been arrested, yesterday he failed an alcohol test. ‘Tecatito’ is the player who has been arrested.”

As things stand, the Mexican player nor his camp have commented on the situation, but it is expected that in the next few hours both Rayados and Jesús Corona himself will give more details on the matter.

‘Tecatito’ Corona went back to Mexico during the Apertura 2023, leaving Sevilla in Spain’s top division. However, the expectation that surrounded his signing fell through the floor due to the constant injuries he suffered, with a total of three in less than one season.

He suffered his most recent injury (knee sprain) in the 85 minute of the second leg of the quarter-finals against Atlético de San Luis, a playoff game in which they were eliminated from the Playoffs. This injury will keep him on the sidelines for nearly two months, meaning he will miss the start of the Clausura 2024 with the side.

The Mexican side were eliminated by Atlético San Luis who went on to play against América in the semi-finals. Tecatito’s side lost 2-1 on aggregate after poor showings against the side who beat them away and drew at home.
