SEVILLA
Tecatito returns to training 193 days later
The Mexican winger hasn’t played for Sevilla since the first day of the La Liga season.
Sevilla have some good news this week with the return of Jesús Tecatito Corona to the team’s training session on Tuesday. The Mexican winger is in the final stretch of his recovery to return to action with the Andalusian side. He hasn’t played since the first day of the La Liga season against Osasuna due to a broken fibula and ankle ligament damage.
On the way back to Sampaoli’s side
193 days after starting the game in Pamplona, in the defeat that Sevilla suffered in their first league game - Tecatito looks set to return to Jorge Sampaoli’s forward line - a forward line in need of pace and speed.
Surgery for Tecatito
Tecatito missed the World Cup in Qatar due to the injury sustained. In December, on his return to training for the second half of the season after the World Cup, he had to undergo surgery again due to discomfort. That has delayed his return by several weeks.
Corona, who turned 30 in January, joined Sevilla from FC Porto in the January transfer window last season. After a brilliant start to life in Sevilla, where he provided several assists and scored two goals, the winger from Hermosilla faded with the entire team under Julen Lopetegui.
The free fall has continued into this season. Now, with a contract at the club until 2025, Tecatito is hoping to finally become the player that everyone was waiting for.
