The alarms are ringing out in Barcelona as their first choice goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is injured. The player will return to Spain due to back pain, as confirmed by the Germany national team manager, Julian Nagelsmann.

The shot stopper has been unable to train normally and will return to his club side to begin his recovery process. At this stage, the issue is thought to be minor and a short-term recovery schedule is expected for the goalkeeper.

Ter Stegen flies back to Barcelona

He will miss both games because he has acute pain in his back. He will fly to Barcelona tomorrow. “I hope he will be available again soon to play with his team,” Nagelsmann said on Friday.

The Barça goalkeeper will therefore miss the friendly matches that Germany are set to play against Turkey tomorrow at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin and against Austria on Tuesday in Vienna.

When will Ter Stegen recover from injury?

Ter Stegen should, as things stand, have no problems being back fit Xavi and Barcelona’s next match against Rayo Vallecano on November 25. The player will get back to full fitness at the Barcelona facilities and his recovery is expected to go as normal.

What is Ter Stegen’s injury record?

Ter Stegen has not been seriously injured since the issue he sustained in his knee in May 2021, a physical issue that forced him to have surgery and which kept him out of action for the blaugrana until the beginning of the following season, even missing the European Championship that summer. Apart from that, the most he ever had to deal with was a bout of gastroenteritis, something which kept him on the sidelines for a mere week.

Barcelona’s next LaLiga game is against Rayo Vallecano on November 25; after that, they have a crucial UEFA Champions League game against Porto.
