Last week, Mexico City’s Ciudad Universitaria witnessed a dramatic first leg ending when Nicolas Lodeiro scored a late penalty to tie the game against Pumas UNAM and make it 2-2. Now both teams will meet again for the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League final at Lumen Field to determine the winner of the tournament and book their ticket to the FIFA Club World Cup.

Two teams seek to make history

The cup landed in Seattle on 2 May and both teams are eager to win the trophy for the first time in their history. The Sounders are trying to become the first Major League Soccer to win the trophy since the tournament changed its format in 2008 and end the dominance of the Liga MX clubs.

The Sounders have confirmed that there are no more tickets available at Lumen Field for the CCL final on Wednesday night. Thousands of people will be there to witness history and in hopes that the Sounders become the first MLS team to play in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup and defeat a Liga MX side.

More than 61,000 fans are expected with the side from Washington State expected to break the attendance record for a CONCACAF Champions League final in the history of the tournament. The last time Seattle had more than 60,000 fans in attendance was in the 2019 MLS Cup final, when 69,274 people saw the Sounders defeat Toronto FC 3-1.
