LIGA MX
The managers who hang by a thread after day nine of Clausura 2023
After the first half of the season, some of the managers are checking the strength of their pegs with poor results threatening their roles.
After the first half of the season, some coaches were left reeling from their team’s poor results on day nine. The upcoming date could prove to be fateful for any of them. We consider who it looks worst for.
Liga MX managers under pressure
Eduardo Arce
Arce's debut season as Liga MX manager has been a total disaster, taking Puebla away from the image they had earned with Nicolás Larcamón at the helm.
La Franja has only recorded two wins so far this season, has the second worst defense and is third from last in the overall standings.
Arce has his job on the line in the next matchday, when Puebla Pumas at the Olympic stadium.
ANDRE JARDINE
San Luis has gone four games without winning and three of them ending in defeat, which has the Brazilian’s neck on the table.
The team has the third worst offense of the season, with only eight goals scored and today sits 13th in the table.
A bad result in his visit to León on matchday 10 could cost Jardine his job.
MAURO GERK
52 games without a win on the road, just one victory in 25 games, propping up the table, worst offense of the season... all of this applies to Querétaro under Mauro Gerk.
The Argentine has had more credit in the albinegro club, overlapped by the institutional crisis that the franchise has been going through for a year as a result of 5M.
Anywhere in the world, Gerk would have gone by now. Mauro will have one more week of decision making, next hosting Toluca at home, on matchday 10.
