Reports indicate that the new MLS franchise, St. Louis City SC, is interested in the signing of Roberto Firmino as a free agent.

After eight years with Liverpool, Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino announced that this season will be his last for the Reds, a situation that has generated all kinds of reactions, including that of German coach Jürgen Klopp, who said he was surprised by the South American’s departure.

Now, faced with the question of what the future of the Liverpool goalscorer will be, there are reports in the United States by MLS journalist Tom Bogert that an American football franchise is interested in signing ‘Bobby’ Firmino.

According to the journalist, St. Louis City SC, an expansion franchise that recently made its debut in the MLS is the side that are said to be following in the footsteps of the Liverpool player and will try to sign him as a free agent next summer, once his contract expires.

One factor that could be key in the potential signing of Firmino with St. Louis would be that Lutz Pfannnestiel, the franchise’s sports director, who met the Brazilian striker during his time at Hoffenheim. However, so far there is no approach between the MLS club and Firmino to discuss a possible transfer.

After revealing the information about the intention of St. Louis SC to sign the Brazilian national team, Bogert also revealed that recently there were rumours about a possible interest from from another MLS team.

The team in question is LAFC, a team that is looking for a new star after the retirement of Gareth Bale; it would be a signing that would increase the club’s chances in the search for their second championship in the new MLS season and with a view to the Concacaf Champions League.
