Three Chivas players feature in Liga MX ‘Team of the Week’
Following their 4-1 Clasico Tapatio win over Atlas FC, three players from Chivas have been selected in matchday 12 ‘Team of the Week’.
After the conclusion of matchday 12 of the Apertura 2023 campaign, the editorial board at Liga MX have nominated their Team of the Week which features three players from Guadalajara and two from Tijuana. América, León, Monterrey, Puebla, Pumas and Toluca all have one player in the best 11 of the week.

Matchday 12′s team of the week is composed of three defenders, four midfielders and three forwards with the high Chivas present in part, thanks to their 4-1 win over city rivals Atlas FC in the Clasico Tapatio. The ‘Sacred Flock’ came into the match under pressure with turmoil at the club both on and off the field amid rumours that head coach Veljko Paunovic was destined to leave and take up a position with Spain’s UD Almeria.

Defenders: Alan Mozo (Guadalajara), Igor Lichnovsky (América) and Paul Bellón (León)
Midfielders: Diego de Buen (Puebla), Fernando Beltran (Guadalajara), Silvio Martínez (Tijuana), César Huerta(Pumas)
Forwards: Iván López (Toluca), Rogelio Funes Mori (Monterrey) Ricardo Marín (Guadalajara).
The star player of the weekend’s action was Ricardo Marín as the Guadalajara striker delivered a solid in the Clásico Tapatío against Atlas, where he scored a brace.
Antonio Mohamed, coach of Pumas UNAM, was chosen as the best head coach of the matchday following their impressive win against city rivals Cruz Azul.
