Mason Mount’s contractual situation, as well as Chelsea’s own results crisis and the surplus of players in the squad, has not gone unnoticed by the big teams in the Premier League, and they are becoming more and more those who have included the English midfielder in their list. The Blues youth squad player’s contract ends in 2024, Chelsea value him at 85 million pounds and incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino is a big admirer of the player who he hopes can be persuaded to sign a new contract. However, as things stand, it appears Mount’s future seems to be far from Stamford Bridge.

The first to take an interest was Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool. The Reds opted to withdraw from the bid for Jude Bellingham due to his high price and plan invest their money in more than one signing this summer. It was then that Mason Mount was linked to Liverpool, who hope to bring in at least two midfielders. The club is expected to carry out a major squad restructure after announcing the departures of Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

But Liverpool are not alone in their pursuit of Mount. A few days ago it was announced that Arsenal, who seem to be the big favourites in the race to sign West Ham’s Declan Rice, are keen to bring both England internationals to the Emirates. The two players have a great relationship after having formed in Chelsea’s lower categories. Qualifying for the Champions League and Granit Xhaka’s departure force the Gunners to expand and improve their squad ahead of a 2023/2024 season that will be far more demanding.

With Liverpool and Arsenal leading the race for Mount, with Chelsea obliged to sell the player this summer rather than risk him leaving on a a free transfer, the Daily Mail reports that Manchester United are about to enter negotiations for the 24-year-old. According to the British neswpaper, “United are hoping to pay around 55 million pounds for Mount” but would be willing to increase their initial bid, given Erik ten Hag’s determination to incorporate the player into their ranks for the new season.
