Tigres have confirmed that Fernando Gorriarán will be out until further notice after sustaining a hamstring strain in Los Felinos’ Clausura 2023 defeat to Rayados at the weekend.

Tigres don’t give timeline on Gorriarán return

“Gorriarán has been diagnosed with a grade-one myofibrillar injury in the biceps femoris in his left leg,” the Liga MX club said in a statement on Wednesday. “His return to group training will depend on the progress he makes in his recovery.”

The Uruguayan midfielder limped off in the first half of Tigres’ clash with Rayados on Saturday, as Marco Antonio Ruiz’s men lost the Monterrey derby 1-0 at the Estadio Universitario.

Gorriarán could make bench against Toluca

With the Clausura 2023 now on hold for the international break, it’s expected that Gorriarán will at least be fit to be a substitute when Tigres resume Liga MX action against Toluca on 2 April.

Signed from Santos Laguna in December, the 28-year-old has impressed since his arrival at Tigres. In 12 Liga MX appearances, he has scored twice and supplied two assist for the seven-time Mexican champions, who sit sixth in the Clausura 2023 regular-season standings.
