Pumas have the worst home defensive record in the Liga MX
It’s the opposite for Monterrey and América, who have been strong at home during the past year.
When it comes to keeping their house in order, Pumas have a lot of work to do. Out of all of the clubs in the Liga MX, they have the worst defensive record at home during the past year year, having conceded 27 goals at the Ciudad Universitaria.
Pumas’ woeful home record was one of the factors that cost Rafael Puente Jr. his job. The coach was unable to turn around a poor run of results at what was once one of most complicated grounds in Mexican soccer.
On the other hand, two clubs have made their fields impregnable fortresses throughout the Apertura 2022 and Clausura 2023 - Monterrey let in only nine goals at the BBVA stadium while América have conceded 13 .
Looking closer at Pumas’ figures, in the current tournament they have conceded 12 goals at home in the following fixtures: Week 1 (1) vs. Juárez 2-1, Week 3 (1 ) against León 4-1, Week 5 (2) against Atlas 2-2, Week 8 (2) against Chivas 1-2, Week 10 (4) against Puebla 2-4 and Week 12 (2) against Pachuca 0-2 .
