The Tigres continue to announce casualties for the Clausura 2023 competition, where, along with a new coach, they have promised to have a larger squad but face new challenges.

Rodríguez and Venegas out of Tigres

Through its social media accounts, the club reported the departures of Luis Rodríguez and Francisco Venegas, who join Hugo Ayala as the three absentees, for the moment, for the team in the coming year.

As previously stated in AS México, the 31-year-old full-back was not part of the team’s plans, even if Miguel Herrera had continued in command, since he would not have a contract renewal after it expires in December. Venegas, who had the opportunity to remain when he was made an offer to extend his agreement, preferred to leave.

Thus, the player who went by the nickname ‘Chaka’ leaves the institution that led him to soccer glory after six years and eight titles (three leagues, three Campeón de Campeones, one Campeones Vio and one Concachampions). Also seeing participation at the national team level with Mexico, even though constant injuries and poor performance led him to miss the tournament in Qatar.

For his part, the former Everton from Chile, leaves after a short period of three years, linking up for the Clausura 2019 championship, being his best tournament, scoring his only two goals as a tiger. But from there, his minutes decreased to such an extent that he had minimal activity in the recently ended campaign.

Tigres numbers:

  • Rodríguez: 211 games, 7 goals, 20 assists and 8 titles
  • Venegas: 29 games, 2 goals, 1 assists and 2 titles
