Erling, we still love you
But that was a perfect defensive performance from Spurs to keep him at bay for 97 minutes.
I told you so!
What a game from the right-back. He kept Grealish quiet throughout. MOTM for me.
Arsenal fans are certainly happy!
Who'd have thought that they'd be celebrating Kane's record-breaking goal too?

All the info on Kane's goals
You can thank Roddy for this: all the information on Harry Kane's goalscoring numbers for Spurs. Plus a lovely graphic from Sofascore.
The record breaker.
Kane's strike was enough to beat City and break a club record. Not a bad day!
A frustrating day all round for City.
I checked, and Guardiola was wearing black jeans, so the water he spilled on his leg earlier wasn't able to be seen. Every cloud has a silver lining.
FT: Spurs 1.0 City: match report
City's winless and goalless run at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium continues, as they too succumb to defeat on a weekend where it looked as though Arsenal had given them the initiative to mount a title race comeback. Harry Kane got the crucial goal after a first half error from Rodri gave the ball away on the edge of the box and the Spurs man is now the club's all-time leading goalscorer.
City, for their part, had another stodgy game in which Haaland failed to register a shot inside the box. Grealish looked like the live wire in the side and the player capable of creating the difference but he was marshalled fantastically well all game by Emerson Royal, who will be giving Conte and co. something to think about when it comes to the debut of new right-back, Pedro Porro.
Spurs played an excellent game, they were defensively tough and picked their moments to counter. Perhaps the attackers will be frustrated they only scored one, as they had numerous chances to put the game to bed throughout. The red card for Cuti Romero was the only black mark on a great day for the London side, who will be without him for their trip to Leicester City.
AND THAT'S THE FINAL WHISTLE!!!!!
Spurs launch one last attack...
Guardiola gives a sarcastic thumbs up to the referee after Grealish is penalised for a trip on Emerson.
He's back up, the warrior.
Rodri is down, receiving treatment.
City want a penalty...
Spurs pinned right back in their own box now as City ping the ball from left to right.
A cross is lofted in by Grealish and Lloris smashes into Rodri whose day goes from bad to worse.
Rodri slips over the ball and hangs out a lazy leg which catches Højbjerg, who crashes to the ground like a dying swan.
Spurs in no rush to play the ball.
Lloris catches a high cross, stopping Haaland from getting his first shot off.
5 added minutes.
Højbjerg is down, holding his face. He took the De Bruyne shot in the eye.
We're into the last minute of regular time.
Into the wall...
Dangerous free-kick now for City, well outside the box.
De Bruyne to take...
Kulusevski OFF
Sánchez ON
Cuti Romero sent off!
A second yellow is handed out after a late tackle on Grealish!
Two yellows is a one game ban: he misses Leicester away.
Emerson again with another match-saving tackle on Grealish. Kane will get the headlines but he's my player of the match today. Sorry, Haz.
Into the last 5 minutes...
Son OFF
Bissouma ON
Silva OFF
Gundogan ON
Ederson booked for saying naughty words to the referee.
Kulusevski fouled Rico Lewis inside the box and the goalkeeper was furious the referee decided to wave it away.
Emerson again. Madre mía. Another challenge on Grealish.
The poor lad is going to have nightmares about Emerson, but not the ones Spurs fans are normally used to having about him.
Ake is struggling after Kulusevski landed on top of him. He looks OK to continue for now.
Perisic OFF
Sessegnon ON
What a game from Emerson, who has had Grealish's number at every instance. Another fantastic tackle on the Brummie.
Wow, all that came from a mistake from De Bruyne, who misjudged a bouncing ball and allowed Son to charge forward, creating a 3vs3. He shot into Ederson's hands and Højbjerg's resulting effort flew wide from the edge of the box.
HØJBJERG FIRES WIDE!
EDERSON SAVES SON'S SHOT!
City players furious as they think they've seen a handball from a Spurs player in the free-kick crowd.
Perisic booked for a late challenge.
Spurs, again, go close to breaking through the City defence, this time with Son and Kulusevski, who link up well on the edge of the box.
Rodri heads a corner over the bar. Spurs breathe a sigh of relief.
Back underway. He's fine.
Cuti Romero is down, holding his hip.
He took a strong challenge a few seconds ago.
Remember, you can watch Spurs vs City live on Fubo TV (free trial available). And given the amount of chances, you might want to.
I CAN'T KEEP UP!
SPURS NEARLY SCORE AGAIN
He weaves his way through the City defence and the ball bounces in all 4 dimensions before bobbling just wide of Ederson's goal.
Kane gets the ball on the right in a 4vs4 with the City defence. The Englishman chooses the selfish option and shoots, despite having Son free at the back post.
ÁLVAREZ FIRES OVER THE BAR FROM DISTANCE!!!
He spun on his heels and hit a blind shot from the edge of the box that went just over the bar.
Højbjerg is played in behind and lofts the ball into the net but it's flagged offside.
KANE ALMOST SCORES!
THE GAME IS BROKEN!
Perisic fires a low cross to the far post and Kane slides in but he is just too late.
DE BRUYNE HITS WIDE!
Akanji hit a shot that fell to KDB and his effort flew just wide of the post.
ÁLVAREZ SO CLOSE!!!
ERIC DIER DEFLECTED THE SHOT WIDE
De Bruyne rolled the free-kick to the edge of the box where the World Cup winner hit a fearsome shot that was well blocked.
Grealish finally wins the battle vs Emerson as the defender slides in late and takes the attacker down on the edge of the box, right on the byline.
AKE SAVES CITY AGAIN
Son passed through to Højbjerg whose touch to the right for Emerson (who was alone and charging into the box) went just too close to Ake. He slid in brilliantly and cleared away the danger.
Kane played in perfectly by Bentancur but his touch is heavy and Ake sweeps up.
De Bruyne's first touch wins his side a free-kick after a crunching challenge from Dier.
Mahrez OFF
De Bruyne ON
Guardiola has pressed the button!
Here comes De Bruyne!
DAVIES HEADS JUST OVER!
Perisic whipped in a corner to the near post and the defender met the ball with a strong header that flew over the bar.
City seem to just be ticking alongwithout any real 'umph' to their game. it feels as though they need a spark.
Cuti Romero beats Haaland to a header and chases the ball down so it doesn't go out for a corner. Huge cheers from the crowd.
Words exchanged between Emerson and Grealish after the right-back makes an excellent challenge to stop the attack.
Danger cleared.
Free-kick for City on the left corner of the box. Grealish and Mahrez over the ball.
A quick stat:
Haaland didn't have a shot or even a touch inside the Spurs box in the first half. Silenced.
Kane misses the ball after another City mistake. Emerson's cross wasn't judged well and the striker swung a leg into thin air. Another chance.
Akanji saves City. This time with Højbjerg, who is played in behind by Kulusevski. The centre-back covers well and clears.
Kane slipped in instantly by Son and Walker makes a last-second challenge to tip the ball back to Ederson.
And we're off!
The players are back out for the second half!

Will we see this man in the second half?
Maybe his spark is needed for City to get that final ball in the box to their killer robot up front.

Great numbers from Højbjerg.
He won the ball from Rodri's sloppy pass to set Kane up for the goal.
Not bad, not bad...
Kane will be a happy boy today, and perhaps should even have another goal on his tally.
Half-time report
I'd not only say that Spurs have been the better side, but that they've had the better chances, too.
They have looked extremely comfortable for most of the game, with their defensive unit doing everything required to keep Haaland quiet in the final line. Grealish has been City's most active player along with perhaps Mahrez, but the two have so far failed to make any real difference.
The shot at the end of the half that came off the crossbar was of course City's closest chance but apart from that things have been relatively calm. City have passed around the block well but seem unable to find the killer ball to Haaland who has been blocked out by a thousand men.
Half time!
MAHREZ OFF THE CROSSBAR
Grealish's cross found the Algerian whose left-footed shot rifled off the underside of the bar!
2 added minutes.
SPURS ALMOST SCORE!
THEY'VE JUST MISSED 3 CHANCES!
A dangerous Perisic corner was played back in by the wing-back.
Dier's flick almost caught everyone out before Kane got on the rebound that was also saved.
The ball fell to Dier again but his close-range shot was blocked by Ake.
Mayhem in the City box.
GREALISH OVER THE BAR!
Walker slides in Haaland, who opens the play to Grealish. Instead of a return ball, the winger cuts inside and whips a ferocious shot just over the bar.
RODRI GOES CLOSE!
He receives the ball on the edge of the box and drives a driven pass/shot into the bottom right corner. Lloris gets down well.
Remember, you can watch Spurs vs City live on Fubo TV (free trial available).
City penalised for an off-ball challenge from Rico Lewis. Spurs in no rush to take the free-kick in the middle of the pitcg.
Lloris plays the ball erroneously to Rodri, who slips it wide to Grealish. The winger's cross is blocked by Emerson, who has been bright in attack and defence so far for Spurs.
City's one-touch silky buildup is broken by a crunching tackle from Davies. The crowd celebrate it like a goal.
We're back underway. Both players look OK.
Ten minutes until half time.
Pep Guardiola has just spilled his water bottle all over his leg. A bad day all round.
Grealish and Højbjerg are both down.
Grealish sees his cross cleared by Davies.
Spurs look incredibly comfortable today: they are happy to sit and counter as City play pinball on the edge of their box.
Kulusevski shoots and it's blocked. He had Perisic bursting down the left on his own.
Another fine chance for the home side.
Spurs get in behind again with Kulusevski, but Ake dives in well to block.
Spurs counter with Kulusevski who takes 30 years to shoot before deciding that Son wants to instead.
He doesn't. The South Korean lays off to Kane who seemingly decides that 267 goals is just enough for today. A very strange moment. Could have been 2-0.
Spurs are holding an excellent defensive shape today. They are squishing up so well that they have forced City all the way back to Ederson from the edge of the box.
City look frustrated. They've tried using Grealish to dribble through the block a few times, to little effect.
Grealish tracks back 30 yards and puts in a hugely impressive tackle on Kulusevski, who was tearing forward at great speed.
Who had that on their bingo card?
Bentancur into the book for a rough challenge on Rico Lewis, who is a small boy.
Kane wins a free-kick 30 seconds after the referee refuses to give Grealish one for the same type of soft push in the back.
The crowd absolutely love the decision, as you would.
The crowd are cheering every Spurs tackle right now, and they are right on top of City as they look to progress through the thirds.
Bernardo Silva finds a yard of space and hits a long-range effort straight into the hands of Lloris.
Back underway. City look shellshocked.
Harry Kane now has 267 goals - the most for Tottenham Hotspur in their entire history.
OUT OF NOWHERE!
Rodri commits a huge error playing out from the back, playing the ball straight to Højbjerg on the edge of the box who flicks it square to Kane for the tap in!
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
HARRY KANE BECOMES SPURS' ALL TIME TOP GOAL SCORER!!!
CHANCE FOR CITY!
EMERSON CLEARS BRILLIANTLY!
A few quick switches of play end with a diagonal cross from Walker towards Grealish at the back post. Emerson does well to dive in front of the ball and clear the danger.
Spurs with some possession now around the back line. City pressing like rabid dogs, as per usual.
Aaaand they win it back.
It's Romero who is following Haaland every time the Norwegian pops up next to Rodri and co. in the middle. There's the space for the striker...
Haaland has dropped a few times now to Harry Kane levels of deep, most likely in order to free up more space between Spurs' centre-backs.
Mahrez almost gets on the end of a fantastic move from City that went through everyone from Ederson to Haaland. The pass from Julián Álvarez got caught under the Algerian's feet and he lost possession for his side.
CHANCE!
Grealish floated the corner over everyone to Ake, who was on his own. The defender, instead of shooting, tries to play to ball back across goal, but it is cleared. That was a great chance to shoot.
Space opens up for Mahrez on the right in the following phase of play, but the winger's shot is blocked out for a corner.
Free-kick for City, 40 yards out. Mahrez to cross in...
Emerson wins the ball from a long Walker pass and makes his way down the pitch past Lewis, but his cross is blocked.
In defence, it looks like Lewis at left-back and Walker on the right.
On the ball, Lewis moves up towards Rodri in the middle of the pitch.
Spurs try to break through with Son, who makes a long run down the middle of the pitch. Ederson clears.
And we're off!
City kick off from left to right.
The players are in the tunnel...
Ten to go!
Here's a reminder of the lineups before we get going:
Spurs - Lloris, Romero, Dier, Davies, Royal, Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Perisic, Kulusevski, Kane, Son
City - Ederson, Lewis, Walker, Akanji, Ake, Rodrigo, Bernardo, Mahrez, Grealish, Alvarez, Haaland

Kane's on for a record
Harry Kane has scored 266 goals for Spurs, level at the top of the scorers list with Jimmy Greaves.
He could break the record today and become Spurs' all-time leading goalscorer.
Pep's explains the absence of Foden:
It seems the player was a late ommision to the squad today.
Twenty minutes to go!
The players are warming up with the typical rondos and pot-shots at the goalkeepers.
Erling Haaland is looking especially sharp. He only scored a hat-trick last week, so he'll be looking to find the net again this week.

A crazy stat:
The last time Guardiola left both Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan on the bench for a Premier League match was in May 2021 - 62 league games ago.
The game was away to Crystal Palace, when City had almost won the league already and were focusing on their Champions League campaign.
(stat from Simon Bajkowski)
No Foden today
The English midfielder has an illness and is out as a result, say the local press in Manchester.
Here are the tactical lineups from Sofascore:
Of course, this is the on-ball shape, in which they've got Lewis and Rodri as a double pivot behind a line of 4 attacking midfielders.
As for Spurs, there are no surprises: it's the 3-4-2-1 for Conte's side.
Remember, you can watch Spurs vs City live on Fubo TV (free trial available).
The other big news in the Premier League is the red card given to Casemiro, who will miss the next few games. Here's all the info.
Cancelo's Madrid rejection
One man that is not at City anymore is João Cancelo. The Portuguese right-back made a move to Bayern in the January window, but only after being rejected by Real Madrid!
Spurs' new star on the bench
Pedro Porro starts on the bench for Spurs today - might we see him later on?
Spurs starting XI:
Lloris
Romero - Dier - Davies
Emerson - Højbjerg - Bentancur - Perisic
Kulusevski - Kane - Son
City Starting XI
Ederson
Lewis - Walker - Akanji - Ake
Rodri. - Bernardo - Mahrez
Álvarez - Haaland - Grealish
The players have arrived!
The team news for both sides should be out in the next few minutes...
Here's how the league looks:
Brighton are 2 points below Spurs so a loss today could see them dropping down the table. A win for the home side would see them creep up right behind Newcastle on the edge of the Champions League spots.
As for City, a win is needed to try and reel in the runaway Arsenal, who have already hit the 50 point mark. Anything other than that and Manchester United are going to be licking their lips at the idea of finding themselves in second place.

And the answer is...
Carlos Tévez!
The Argentinian striker is celebrating his 39th birthday today.
He played 113 times for City, scoring 58 goals.
Pedro Porrs's ready to go!
Will we see him feature today?
In 26 games this season in Portugal, he has scored 3 and got 11 assists. Not bad!
Let's have a quiz...
It's an ex-Manchester City player's birthday today - but who?
Here are some clues:
1. He also played for West Ham
2. He came through the Boca Juniors academy
3. He fell out with Roberto Mancini over playing time

Player to watch: Riyad Mahrez
The main man today could be Riyad Mahrez, who has been involved in 11 Premier league goals against Spurs, which is his highest against any opponent (7G & 4A).
The 31-year-old has 10 goals and 4 assists in 26 appearances in all competitions this season.
Four strange facts about the fixture...
1. The strange way the season has fallen means the reverse fixture between these two sides only took place last month, with City winning 4-2 at the Etihad Stadium.
2. The last time City won away to Spurs in all competitions was back in 2018; since then, Spurs have won by an aggregate score of 6-0. City are yet to win or even score at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
3. Spurs’ last home win came in November, when they beat Leeds 4-3 in a crazy game that saw the away side take the lead on three separate occasions.
4. Tottenham have lost all five of their league matches this season against sides that are currently above them in the table; City are looking to win three consecutive league games for the first time this campaign.

Team news: Manchester City
The bad news is that John Stones is set to miss the next "few weeks or a month”, according to Guardiola, with a hamstringinjury.
The good news is that midfielder Phil Foden may return from a foot injury which kept him out against Arsenal in the FA Cup.
![Pedro Porro Tottenham Hotspur](https://img.asmedia.epimg.net/resizer/q7L2n0_FT6_mKU4pjkTDJjVgTa0=/cloudfront-eu-central-1.images.arcpublishing.com/diarioas/AWLHFW4VBBB7XB3KZJ2EEHDRSM.jpeg)
Team news: Spurs
The biggest piece of team news without a doubt is that manager Antonio Conte could miss out after undergoing surgery to remove his gallbladder. The Italian has been in Italy ever since and is said to be staying there until next week; assistant manager Cristian Stellini is set to take his place until then.
Spanish right wing-back, Pedro Porro (pictured), signed from Sporting Club de Portugal in the January window, could make his debut.
The other potential absentees are Lucas Moura, who is back training but remains a doubt, and Pape Sarr, who had a hipissue.
Heeeello!
