UEFA investigate Mbappé and Vinicius for indecent conduct
UEFA will investigate four Real Madrid players for “indecent conduct” in the Champions League game against Atlético Madrid.

UEFA has announced that it will take action against the celebratory behaviour of several Real Madrid players during the Champions League Euroderbi, specifically Antonio Rüdiger, Kylian Mbappé, Dani Ceballos, and Vinícius Júnior.
A UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector has opened an investigation to gather information and compile a report on the incidents. The four Madrid players now face potential sanctions, though the club plans to submit appeals in an effort to prevent any disciplinary action.
UEFA’s disciplinary body has formally communicated the launch of an investigation into the players’ alleged misconduct at the Metropolitano. The official statement reads:
“A UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector has been appointed to investigate allegations of indecent conduct by Real Madrid CF players (Antonio Rüdiger, Kylian Mbappé, Daniel Ceballos Fernández, and Vinícius Júnior) during the UEFA Champions League round of 16 match between Club Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid CF on 12 March 2025. Further information on this matter will be provided in due course.”

Will Real Madrid’s players be suspended?
The Disciplinary Committee has opened proceedings against the four players and will determine the necessary measures, which will be made public in due course. UEFA has not specified the exact nature of the alleged misconduct, as the matter falls under the jurisdiction of the Ethics Committee. However, certain actions have drawn particular attention.
Rüdiger was seen making a controversial throat-slashing gesture, an incident widely captured by photographers and television cameras. Vinícius was involved in multiple confrontations throughout the match, particularly with sections of Atlético Madrid’s home crowd. Additionally, Mbappé has faced criticism for an alleged gesture in which he appeared to grab his genitals.

Further information on this matter will be provided in due course.”
This case against the Real Madrid players follows a prior warning from UEFA regarding fan behaviour at the Santiago Bernabéu. After the match against Manchester City, UEFA imposed a partially suspended two-year stadium closure for certain sections, along with a €30,000 fine.
