USA 4-0 New Zealand: as it happened
The USA beat New Zealand in style on Tuesday to advance to the quarter-finals of the U-20 World Cup, winning 4-0 in Mendoza, Argentina.
Owen Wolff, Cade Cowell, Justin Che, and Rokas Pukstas scored the goals for Mikey Varas's side.
Wolff gave the US the opener in the first half, before three second-half goals saw the team keep move comfortably into the last eight of the tournament.

The USA have not conceded a single goal at the U-20 World Cup.
It's four clean sheets in four games now!
The USA showed their class in the second half, scoring three times, and they book their spot in the quarter-finals.

Paredes goes over in the box, but play is waved on and there won't be a fifth goal for the US.
It's been a tough couple of days for New Zealand, who conceded five to Argentina and now four to the USA.
The players are thankfully back on their feet and play will resume.
There has been a clash of heads in the box and the stretcher has been called out...

Garbett overhits the corner and it flies out for a goal-kick to the USA.
Slonina comes out to collect another cross. He's had a pretty easy afternoon, it must be said.
Herdman crosses from the right but there is too much on it for Fay.

He powers home Craig's inswinging free at the back post.
And that should see the US into the last 8 of the World Cup. It's 3-0!
The US - led by Luna - hit New Zealand on the break, and it eventually falls to Che, who slots home from close range.

New Zealand can have no complaints here. They have been second best.
Cowell again! He gets across his man and unleashes from 20 yards, but it's just wide of the far post. 2-0
Cowell reminds me of a young Carlos Tevez. His powerful running and low centre of gravity, as well as those locks... yeah all I can see is Tevez.
LUNA!
He gets away from his man and shoots low from 20 yards. It just rolls past the post! So close!
He deserves a goal for his showing today.
Luna picks it up in a central area just outside the box, before sliding it through to Cowell on the left. The US No 9 buries it low and hard with his left to make it 2-0.
It's his third goal in three games at the World Cup!
Cowell turns expertly and puts it across the box, but his aim is off and it misses the forwards heading for goal.
The US have yet to concede a goal at the U-20 World Cup in Argentina. New Zealand have just over 30 minutes to change that.
A total of 13 states are represented on the US roster, with four players from both California and Texas.
Luna has been impressive for the US, picking the ball up in pockets of space and driving at the New Zealand backline. He's an energetic player and uses his low centre of gravity and strength to get past opponents.

Wiley gets around the back and squares it to Gomez, who should really bury that but it goes wide of goal. What a chance... and he knows it!
New Zealand are camped in their own half as the US look for that all-important second goal.
Gomez clips it across the area from the byline on the left but New Zealand clear their lines.
There is still a long way to go and despite the US being on top, New Zealand are still in this one.
The break may have come at a good time for Darren Bazeley's side, who find themselves 1-0 down.

McGlynn clips it to the back post but Wynder can't keep it down.
Wynder makes a timely challenge and Luna is there to pick up the pieces and carry the ball forward.
Six US players are based abroad: England (two), Germany (two), Croatia (one) and Spain (one).
Slonina has still not conceded at the tournament and New Zealand are finding it difficult to test him.
There will be SIX additional minutes played at the end of the first half.
There are two minutes of normal time left to play and the US still have a narrow lead.
New Zealand can use the break to try to improve their current situation.
The sun has come out in Mendoza, the wonderful wine region of Argentina.
Cowell's cross from the left rolls across the six-yard box and no one is there to tap it home.
That could have easily been 2-0.
McGlynn's corner goes short to Gomez, but his inswinging cross is too deep and goes out for a goal-kick.
The US have been looking for that second goal but their efforts from distance have missed the target.
They currently lead through Owen Wolff's goal from outside the box.

New Zealand beat the US press and advance but the options dry up in the final third.
Bazeley wants his side to press higher. The US are currently enjoying playing it out from the back.
New Zealand boss Darren Bazeley is on the sidelines looking for more from his side, who are currently 1-0 down to the USA.
Colloty and Gomez both go for the 50-50 ball. The US win the free but Colloty is fuming and thinks it should be a free to New Zealand.
Match fact: Midfielder Jay Herdman is the son of Canada's senior national team head coach John Herdman.
Herdman plays his football in Canada with Vancouver Whitecaps.
Cowell was excellent against Slovakia, leading the line with his energy and innovation.
Cowell goes storming through from the left but over comes Surman with a superb challenge to deny the pacey striker.
Thirteen of the 21 New Zealand players are based domestically, while six are playing abroad in Canada, Sweden, Italy and the Netherlands.
It's early days, but as it stands, the USA are heading for the quarter-finals.
Sims will be disappointed with that one as there is no real pace on the strike from just outside the box, but the US won't care.

This year is New Zealand’s seventh appearance at the U-20 World Cup. After not qualifying for the first 15 tournaments, they have participated in seven of eight editions since 2007.
The ball is sent wide to Gomez on the right, who looks for the give-and-go but doesn't get it back...

The teams played each other in the Round of 16 at the U-20 World Cup in 2017, with the USA winning 6-0.
Current senior USMNT players Josh Sargent and Auston Trusty were on the score-sheet that day.

Five players have scored for the US at the U-20 World Cup in Argentina.
Cade Cowell (two goals), defenders Jonathan Gómez and Caleb Wiley andmidfielders Diego Luna and Niko Tsakiris have all been on the score-sheet.
Cowell was particularly excellent against Slovakia.
USA top the group
The USA won all three group games, finishing with a 2-0 victory over Slovakia on Friday at the Estadio San Juan del Bicentenario in San Juan, Argentina.

New Zealand advance from Group A
New Zealand finished third in Group A, winning 1-0 against Guatemala before drawing with Uzbekistan. They then lost 5-0 to Argentina but have qualified as one of the four best third-place teams with four points.
Previous meeting
The US and New Zealand have previously met in the Round of 16 in the U-20 World Cup. In the 2017 edition, they faced each other, with the US winning 6-0.
The US won all three of their group stage games and kept a clean sheet in each one.
They have reached the quarter-final round in the last three U-20 World Cups and will be hoping to advance once again against New Zealand today.
