The United States men’s national team has confirmed two friendly games prior to the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The USMNT will head to Europe in September to play against Japan and Saudi Arabia as part of their final preparation against two teams also playing at the World Cup.

Gregg Berhalter’s side will face Japan on 23 September in a location to be determined and four days later they will travel to Murcia, Spain to play against Saudi Arabia at the Nueva Condomina stadium. At the conclusion of the September international break the USMNT will have faced four different World Cup teams prior to making the trip to Qatar.

Final preparation for the USMNT

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to measure ourselves against fellow World Cup participants,” Berhalter said. “Together with the two games in June against Morocco and Uruguay, we will have experienced a great diversity of styles and quality opponents to help us prepare for what lies ahead at the World Cup in November.”

During the last FIFA international break the United States defeated Morocco 3-0 with a dominant performance from Christian Pulisic, who recorded his 10th assist for his country. The USMNT then played out a 0-0 draw against Uruguay at Children’s Mercy Park.
