USA 1-3 Germany: summary, score, goals, highlights, international friendly
USMNT 1-3 Germany, as it happened
In the end it was easy for Germany as the US ran out of juice after a decent first half showing.
A sublime Christian Pulisic goal from Captain America was about as good as it got for Gergg Berhalter's men tonight in East Rutherford. Despite being in the ascendancy after the opening goal of the game, Gundogan was alert to striker following a rebound to tie the game at the interval.
The second half was a different game with Germany in control from the off and two quick goals in succession from Fullkrug and the excellent Musiala were enough to seal off a solid win for new German coach Nagelsmann.
The whistle sounds and Germany win.
Aaronson does well and wins a free right on the edge of the Germany box.
The Union Berlin player will take it himself.
Straight into the German wall.
Final minute of the contest and we'll have just 2 minutes of added time.
Curious to think that the USA are ranked 11th in the FIFA rankings and Germany only in 16th place !
The US still looking for a way past the Germany defence but the white shirts are having little problem in dealing with the US threat.
Germany set to win their eighth meeting against the US.
There has never been a draw in the previous eleven meetings and tonight looks to be no different.
Into the final ten minutes of the contest and Germany looking very comfortable.
The US now resorting to pumping speculative balls into the German box but Ter Stegen is alert to everything.
McKennie gives the ball away cheaply and Germany shoot from distance but with no accuracy and nothing for Turner to worry about.
We've seen little of Pulisic in the second half and the USMNT have failed to generate the same spark that we saw in times during the first 45'.
Sane almost bags a fourth for Germany as the visitors launch a lightning counter.
Approaching the 70 minute mark and Germany look extremely comfortable.
Havertz and Sule on for Germany as Wirtz and Hummels make way.
Germany are rampant now as the cut through the seas of blue jerseys.
The US have yet to really get going in the second half to be honest.
Germany go ahead in Connecticut.
The ball is played through to Fullkrug who is onside and all he has to do is slot past Turner.
Musah carded as he hauls back a German player.
Germany creating more problems for the US and it's Musiala who fires a shot which Turner palms and Gundogan blazes over.
Germany almost make it 1-2 as Fullkrug fires a goal bound effort that Turner has to push past the post.
Turner called into action right away and the Forest stopper did well in gathering the ball with a sea of blue shirts in front of him.
All set for the second half and both teams are set to ring some half time changes.
Rain starting to fall now in East Hartford with fans pulling on the waterproofs to deal with the conditions.
Both captains on target tonight with Pulisic opening the scoring with a sweet right footed strike before Gundogan drew Germany level pouncing onto a rebound in the 39th minute.
The whistle does finally sound and it's half time with a 1-1 scoreline.
Germany go close at the end of the half and McKennie is the saviour as he blocks a clear goal bound shot.
Indeed it is, just one minute.
Into the final minute of the half and with stoppages being few and far between, I imagine the Mexican referee will add a minimum of one minute.
Hummels carded as he clips free flowing Serginho Dest.
Corner for the US as the clock ticks down.
It's been a really enjoyable game with both teams adopting a positive approacj to the contest.
Fine work from Sane who skips past the US defenders and a rebound sees the ball fall to the German captain who drills home.
Germany seem void of ideas in the final third of the pitch.
Too many times, passes are played but the communication levels are lacking fine tuning.
The goal has really spurred Berhalter's men onto a different level and they have Germany pegged back now.
Thirty minutes gone and the US lead.
A real wonder goal from the Milan man as he cuts in from the byline to curl the ball past Ter Stegen!
Pulisic was free in the box with just Ter Stegen to beat and just clipped the ball too long and then made the most of the intervention from the Barcelona keeper.
Big, big call from the US for a penalty !
Despite the game being a friendly, there is a decent pace to the action as Turner is called into action again and the Forest stopper has been the busier of the two goalkeepers this evening.
Sané breaks free and with a clear path to goal beckoning the Bayern Munich player blasts the ball well wide.
Germany well ahead in terms of possession.
Weah does well to get a shot off bit fails to generate any decent pace and it's easy for Ter Stegen to gather.
The US seem happy to sit deep and soak up German pressure and strike on the counter.
Musiala is given way too much space by the US defenders and dinks the ball to a fellow striker and the move breaks down.
The US on the backfoot in the opening minutes of the game.
Surprisingly large number of Germany fans present in East Hartford tonight with plenty of Bundesliga side flags (Fortuna Dusseldorf, Schalke) on display.
Pulisic has the ball in the net but the flag was up to deny the AC Milan man.
Matt Turner almost gives the ball away to a German striker but at the last second the keeper regains his composure and clears the danger.

12th USA-Germany meeting
The two nations have met on a total of 11 occasions - five of those in official competition and the rest in friendlies. None of those meetings ended level - there was always a winner.
Seeing at this game is only a friendly, a warm-up match which give coaches the chance to try out new players, test different systems and for the team to get to know each other.
As this game is being played in an official international window, the winners will add 10 points to their personal points tally in the FIFA world ranking. But as things stand, even that won’t have any impact one way or another.
Who will play for the USMNT against Germany?
Gio Reyna is heavily rumoured to feature but he will likely start from the bench. It must be taken into account that the player recently returned from injury and only a few days ago did he make his debut for Borussia Dortmund this season, where he played well and influenced heavily on the game, despite not being fully match fit.
“That’s old news”, Pulisic said when asked about the situation. “I mean, I haven’t even thought of it to be honest. Everything’s going smooth. Gio is great player and he’s right back where he left off.”
Possible XI for Berhalter:
GK: Turner
DEF: Dest - Ream - Richards - Scally
MID: Musah - De la Torre - McKennie
ATT: Pulisic - Balogun - Weah
