USMNT - Jamaica summary: score, goals and highlights | CONCACAF Nations League
United States - Jamaica: As it happened
USMNT are through to the final of the CONCACAF Nations League after a dramatic victory against a resolute Jamaica.
Few gave the Reggae Boyz much chance ahead of the game, owing to their long list of big-name absentees. But it took just 30 seconds for Jamaica to take the lead at AT&T Stadium, Greg Leigh taking advantage after the US failed to clear a long throw.
USMNT needed to get control of the game and they did, although they failed to do much with it. There were openings for Christian Pulisic and Malik Tilman but very little of substance to show from their 78% share of possession.
The breakthough finally came in the dying seconds of second half injury time, the 95th minute, when a Pulisic corner kick was deflected into his own net by Cory Burke. The US were finally level and the game went into extra time.
An exhausted Jamaica team had little left to give in the additional period and Haji Wright, an impressive second half substitute for USMNT, took advantage of their tiring legs to score a clinical brace. Gregg Berhalter's side ran out 3-1 winners at the end of extra time and booked their place in Sunday's CONCACAF Nations League final.

And a first change for Jamaica. Daniel Johnson replaces Jamal Lowe.
Triple change for the United States. Pepi, Adams and Wright come on, replacing Weah, Musah and Balogun.
Big chance! Jamaica

A lucky escape for USMNT there.
This half has been much better from USMNT but they haven't managed to convert that into any clear-cut chances. They've played with greater width in the second half, stretching the Jamaican backline and looking to create space in behind.

Watch: Malik Tilman misses best USMNT opening
This was the play of the first half for the United States. Good wing-play from Timothy Weah on the right flank but Malik Tilman could not convert.
Will Gregg Berhalter make changes at the break?
They may not have shown it so far, but this is a very talented USMNT roster at Gregg Berhalter's disposal. They look particularly strong in the attacking areas and boast a number of potential game-changers on the bench, including Ricardo Pepi, Brenden Aaronsen and Gio Reyna.
Will Berhalter look to change anything at half time? Unlikely, given the strength of the team already on the field, but don't be surprise if he has made substitutions by the hour-mark if the scoreline does not improve.
Can USMNT find a way back?
That was, all things considered, a fairly poor opening 45 minutes from Gregg Berhalter's side. They looked susceptible to long throws, struggled to create chances and, when those opportunities did come, failed to take advantage.
However, it should also be said the the US have come up against Jamaica side that is most comfortable sitting deep and playing reactively. USMNT did looked more dangerous as the first half wore on and they will take some comfort from the chances that they did create. Malik Tilman, however, will be ruing an opportunity squandered in the final minutes of the first half.
Jamaica lead after shocking US start
Thirty seconds, that's all it took for Jamaica to break through the USMNT defence and fire themselves ahead. A long throw from Damion Lowe caused chaos in the US box and Greg Leigh did brilliantly at the far post to ghost in and send a thumping header past Matt Turner.
Those long throws have continued to worry Gregg Berhalter's side throughout the first half and the Reggae Boyz offer a threat on the counter-attack.

There's a coming together between Tilman and Lowe in the US half. The referee calls them both over to cool things down.
The US are pushing every outfield player up into the Jamaica half but there's a real lack of movement from Berhalter's side. They look so static, and so easy to defend against, like this.

Jamaica try to work the ball out to Palmer on the right but the pass is over-hit, USMNT win a goal kick.

Big chance! USMNT
The US mount a sharp counter-attack and they have a three-on-two, with Balogun on the ball. He tries to find Pulisic but the pass is just behind the US captain, giving Latibeaudierre a chance to get back and block.

We're a quarter of an hour in and Greg Leigh's first international goal remains the only one of the game. Looking back at that opening strike it was poor defending from Joe Scally, who was caught sleeping at the back post.
It's been a very scrappy opening to this game, lots of free kicks and a real disjointed feel to the play. This type of game will undoubtedly suit Jamaica who, having scored their goal, can now sit back and defend.
USMNT get the cross cleared, Jamaica win a throw-in midway inside the US half.
Jamaica win another free kick after more good work from Renaldo Cephas. A chance to deliver from the left for Jamaica now.
Balogun does well to hold the ball up and brings his teammates into the game. Tilman charges into the box and his muscled off the ball brilliantly by Di'Shon Bernard, winning his side a goal kick.
Neat interplay from Pulisic and A. Robinson on the left to send the Fulham man sprinting down the line. He plays a cross-field ball to Weah but the pass is overhit and the attack loses momentum.
Poor touch from Yunus Musah allows Renaldo Cephas to pinch the ball on the halfway line. Joe Scally is forced to bring him down and give Jamaica a free kick.
USMNT are starting to dominate the ball now, showing good patience as they look to build the play from the back. Jamaica are dropping back into a 4-5-1 shape, content to let the hosts have possession.
Joel Latibeaudierre is penalised for a late challenge on Timothy Weah on the halfway line.
Good defending from Chris Richards to prevent Damion Lowe reaching a through-ball. Goal kick to USMNT.
USMNT look to get a bit of control in this game and start to build their passes through the middle. Gregg Berhalter looks fairly relaxed on the touchline, unwilling to let that early goal knock him.
Incredible start for this Nations League semi-final! Jamaica won and early throw-in in the US half and managed to punt a cross to the back post, where Greg Leigh was on hand to head the ball past Turner.

USMNT and Jamaica put through their paces
The stage is set at AT&T Stadium ahead of this CONCACAF Nations League clash. The United States will go into this one as favourites but Jamaica can spring a surprise, and bost real quality in their squad.
Tonight's game is the first fixture in a busy 2024 schedule for USMNT. Gregg Berhalter's side are hosting Copa America this summer and will welcome the likes of Brazil and Argentina to the States.
Here's how their calendar looks for the rest of this year...
Weston McKennie hungry for another Nations League triumph
The CONCACAF Nations League is a relatively recent addition to soccer's global calendar, a new competition that pits all of the Northern and Central America nations against one another.
In both of the two previous editions USMNT have come out on top and Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie is targeting more success this year.
Last summer Christian Pulisic made the decision to leave Chelsea after four years with the club. He had made positive impressions in flashes but had struggled to secure a starting berth for the Premier League giants.
He moved to AC Milan and has looked like a player reborn, showing all of the talent that convinced Chelsea to bring him from Borussia Dortmund. Pulisic has hit 12 goals already this season, beating his previous best for a single campaign, and will wear the armband for Gregg Berhalter's team tonight.
Another meeting of CONCACAF rivals
The United States and Jamaica are two of the biggest producers of players in CONCACAF and there are always stars on show when USMNT meet the Reggae Boyz.
They have played each other 32 times in the past but the historic record is startlingly one-sided, with USMNT coming out on top in 19 of those encounters and Jamaica winning only three. Can Jamaica turn things around and get a bit of revenge this evening?
Jamaica forced into several changes for USMNT clash
The Reggae Boyz were always destined to go into this game as underdogs but a number of selection issues for Heimir Hallgrimmsson has made the task at hand even harded.
Experience West Ham United forward Michail Antonio misses out due to injury, while Aston Villa's Leon Bailey and forward Trivante Stewart have both been dropped after discipline issues in the camp. Al-Ettifaq winger Demarai Gray and Shamar Nicholson are both suspended due to the accumulation of yellow cards in the CONCACAF tournament.
USMNT arrive at AT&T Stadium
Tonight's game is a single-legged affair, a straight shoot-out for a place in the final of the CONCACAF Nations League. USMNT have named a strong starting XI with Christian Pulisic, Folarin Balogun and Timothy Weah featuring in an exciting front three.
USMNT and Jamaica are playing for a place in the CONCACAF Nations League final, but US head coach Gregg Berhalter is also hoping to use these games as preparation for bigger tests to come. Speaking to reporters ahead of the game, Berhalter explained that these matches offer a chance for the team to become comfortable in pressure scenarios.
"Elimination games and playing against the best teams is what will prepare us for the World Cup in 2026. We don't have qualifying, so what else is there?" he said.
And here's how Jamaica line up
The Reggae Boyz have been struck by a number of absences to key players but are still able to name a strong starting XI this evening. Fulham forward Bobby de Cordova-Reid will be their principle creative spark. Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Andre Blake wears the captain's armband.
USMNT team news to face Jamaica
Here's Gregg Berhalter's starting XI for tonight's game. There's no space in the line-up for Tyler Adams, meaning that Christian Pulisic takes the armband once again.
Christian Pulisic looks to continue red-hot form
He's been feted as the future of soccer in the United States since making the move to Borussia Dortmund as a teenager, but Christian Pulisic's career has not been without difficulties. His huge early promise in Dortmund saw him attract the attention of Premier League side Chelsea, who spent close to $70 million to secure his services.
He impressed in patches in England but failed to nail down a regular spot in the starting XI and last summer was sold to AC Milan. He has taken to life in Italy and put up some deeply impressive numbers for the Serie A giant, bettering his previous career-best goal tally after scoring in a win over Hellas Verona last weekend.
Now, with USMNT preparing for a big year of action, he has the chance to bring that form into the international arena.
Texas welcome for USMNT
We're in Arlington, Texas for tonight's game, a state known around the world for a very popular sports team. The Dallas Cowboys, often known as 'America's Team', are one of the most storied franchises in NFL history and the source of huge interest the world over.
Ahead of tonight's game a few of the USMNT squad caught up with the Cowboys.
We're now just one hour from kick-off in this crucial CONCACAF Nations League clash between USMNT and Jamaica. The winner progresses to compete in next week's final, the loser will see their hopes dashed.
We will be bringing you full live text commentary right here on AS USA, but you can also choose to watch the game. Here's everything you need to know...
Ricardo Pepi's Texas homecoming
The USMNT striker came through at FC Dallas before making the move to Europe. After a spell in Germany, Pepi moved to Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven and he has helped them to an incredible run in domestic competition. PSV are currently cruising ahead at the top of the Eredivisie and look destined to wrap up the title with weeks to spare.
Could he be in-line for a start this evening?
Gregg Berhalter has a deep pool of players to pick from, with impressive performers at the likes of AC Milan, Juventus and PSV Eindhoven. The USMNT head coach appears to have settled in a 4-2-3-1 formation in recent games but still has a number of big decisions to make tonight.
Will captain Tyler Adams feature from the start after returning from injury? Will Folarin Balogun keep his place up front? We'll find out shortly...
Why isn't Demarai Gray playing for Jamaica?
We're still awaiting team news from AT&T Stadium, but we do know that Jamaica forward Demarai Gray will not feature in tonight's game. The Al-Ettifaq star is suspended for tonight's game after picking up his second yellow card of the tournament in the quarter-final win over Canada. Teammate Shamar Nicholson suffers the same fate.
Jamaica have only beaten USMNT once in their history but the Reggae Boyz now boast a whole host of elite professionals. Premier League stars Michail Antonio and Demarai Gray both play their international soccer for Jamaica, but will be absent for tonight's game.
Nevertheless, Jamaica have more than enough quality to cause the United States some real problems this evening...
USMNT debut new jerseys
This year looks set to be a busy one for soccer in the United States. The nation will play host to the finals of the CONCACAF Nations League and, this summer, the 2024 Copa America. All eyes will be on USMNT as they look to compete in both competitions and they will be sporting this new Nike jersey, one of a number of international kits released in recent days.
International soccer is back and there's continental bragging rights to play for in the CONCACAF region. The Nations League returns this evening with two semi-final fixtures played ahead of next week's final.
The first of the two semi-finals sees USMNT take on Jamaica at AT&T Stadium. The United States go into the game as favourites but face a Reggae Boyz side with real experience in the squad, including Fulham's Bobby Decordova-Reid and Andre Blake of Philadelphia Union.
US head coach Gregg Berhalter has a number of tough selection decisions to make, particularly in those key attacking areas. We'll have full team news for you as soon as it's confirmed...
