Former USMNT player Michael Bradley officially announced his retirement from soccer on Tuesday meaning the game against Orlando City at BMO Field will mark an emotional farewell for the veteran player, with Toronto FC out of playoff contention.

Through a statement, Toronto FC shared Bradley’s message thanking all team-mates, coaches and fans for his time as a player with the Canadian club over the last decade.

“For the last 10 years, I have spilled my blood, sweat and tears trying to help this club be the best it could be. There were some incredible days — moments that will stay with me for the rest of my life — and some bad ones too. But I never stopped giving everything I had. Thank you to all my teammates, coaches, and everyone inside the club. This city and this club will always be home,” Bradley said.

Time in Europe

Bradley also spent time in Europe, with Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga, Aston Villa in the Premier League, as well as Chievo Verona and AS Roma in Serie A, before moving back across the Atlantic to join Toronto, where he won the Canadian League, the MLS Supporters Shield and the MLS Cup.
