Am sure most neutrals wouldn't begrudge Alex Morgan a third goal ...having said that the San Diego Wave player has been quiet in this half.
The US are pushing for a fourth but will be content with tonight's performance. Solid, no messing and disciplined against a gutsy but ultimately inferior rival in Haiti.

15' on the clock and it's not the cricket score that many anticipated pre-game. The USWNT have never looked in any great difficulty and have possibly taken their feet off the gas aware that this tournament runs for another two weeks.

The US are starting to show a superior fitness level now as the clock ticks down... the bulk of the Haiti players play their football in French lower league clubs with the US side almost all NWSL players.

So, the US felt they should have had a spot kick, but there was an offside leading up to that play which is what the ref and VAR officials were looking at.

The tempo of the game has dropped slightly as the oppressive heat starts to take its toll... Once again Haiti look dangerous and bring out best of Murphy between the sticks for the US who is alert and smothers a dangerous ball.
What a run from Dumornay but the 18-year-old lacks the composure and angle to finish. At the other end Alex Morgan has the ball in the net again but this one is ruled out for offside... correct call !

Both teams returning to the pitch... All eyes on Roselord Borgella after her penalty miss and subsequent red and then yellow card.
Credit to Haiti, once they conceded the second goal, they seemed to play with less inhibition and for the past 15-20 minutes matched the USWNT for the closing stage of the half.

There goes the whistle and the half concludes with plenty of drama following the Haiti penalty miss and then the red card for Borgella that was down graded to a yellow.

A straight red did seem harsh but the challenge was far from fair... The ref is back and amends the red to a yellow.... great officiating from the Canadian .... the right call I'd say !

Less than ten minutes of the half remain and it's very much one-way-traffic here at the Estadio Universitario. Just as we say that, Haiti break and a fine stop from Murphy in the US denies the Caribbean side from pulling a goal back with Dumornay threatening.

Haiti really need to stop the flow of US attacks or we could end up with a real rout here this evening in Monterrey. Any early belief the side from the Caribbean had at the outset has been extinguished by the Alex Morgan brace.

Ten minutes gone in Monterrey and the young Haiti side can be happy with the opening minutes of the game where the side in pink have come closest to finding the net.
Larco in the Haiti goal has been the busier of the two stoppers to date but nothing created so far by the side in white to trouble the 19-year-old.
Haiti go close as a header from a finely floated free kick grazes the US post.

Next up for the USWNT at the 'W'
After the opening game against Haiti, the USWNT will next face Jamaica on Thursday before ending their group stage campaign host nation Mexico on 11 July.
The US come into tonight's game on the back of two wins over Colombia who themselves are preparing for the Copa America Feminina. The USWNT beat the South Americans 3-0 in Colorado and recorded a 2-0 win four days later in Utah.
W Championship also doubles up as WC & Olympic qualifiers
Back-to-back women’s world champions the United States take their first step toward the 2023 tournament on Monday, playing Haiti in their CONCACAF W Championship group stage opener.
The eight-team tournament in Monterrey, Mexico, will see the top four finishers qualify for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, and the overall winner for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Tonight's USWNT opponents Haiti are currently ranked 60 in the world and come into the game on the back of a creditable 2-4 win over Costa Rica in a friendly game ahead of the W Championship.
Haiti's low point on the international stage came against the US with a 10-0 drubbing in 1991, to date highest defeat for the Caribbean island side.
The other sides in Group A at the CONCACAF W Championship, hosts Mexico and Jamaica are in acton later tonight with Mexico and the US the fancied sides to advance from the group stage with the top two progressing to the semi-final stage.
