USWNT in the 2024 Women’s Gold Cup: group, fixtures, dates and opponents
The United States Women’s National Team already knows its rivals for the group stage and can focus preparations towards inaugural glory.
After the draw for the 2024 Women’s Gold Cup, Twila Kilgore’s United States team now knows its opponents in Group A of the competition. They are the clear favourite to advance to the quarterfinals and continue their preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where Emma Hayes will already be in charge as the coach.
The USWNT is placed in the first group of the tournament, accompanied by Mexico, Argentina, and the winners of Preliminary 3 from Concacaf, Guyana vs the Dominican Republic. The preliminary round matches will kick off with the Women’s Gold Cup on Saturday 17 February.
What is the USWNT schedule in the W Gold Cup 2024?
The Stars and Stripes leads Group A in the first edition of the competition and will kick off their participation on Tuesday 20 February, against the preliminary round winner of Guyana or the Dominican Republic. Following that, they will face Argentina on Friday 23 February, and Mexico on Monday 26 February. All matches in this group will be held at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

Considering that the United States is the favorite to win their group, Twila Kilgore’s team is likely to secure one of the top positions and fall within the top three spots on the list, which will also include the best third-placed teams. In that case, as first meets eighth, second meets seventh etc, they would face one of the weaker squads from the other groups in the first knockout round of the Women’s Gold Cup.
