Varane and Konaté both suffering from illness
The two centre-backs have reportedly got symptoms of the virus that has affected the France squad.
Centre-back pairing Raphael Varane and Ibrahima Konate are both suffering from illness, according to reports from RMC Sport. A virus has plagued the World Champions throughout the campaign to retain their title and it looks to have taken two more victims. Although calmness is still prevailing within the camp, it is not known whether or not the match fitness of the two players will be affected.
This news comes after Kingsley Coman missed training in the week due to symptoms of the virus, dubbed Camel Flu. Dayot Upamecano and Adrien Rambiot missed out on the semi-final win over Morocco due to the illness.
RMC Sport say the situation is “not alarming”, although doubts have been raised as to whether the two will be fit to face Argentina in the World Cup final on Sunday 18 December, given that Rabiot and Upamecano already failed to be fit to play with the same virus.
France are due to train on Friday evening, so the concerns will either be quelled or stoked again in the lead up to the showpiece event at the Lusail Stadium.
