New Chivas Guadalajara head coach Veljko Paunovic acknowledged his share of responsibility in the 1-2 defeat against Toluca last Saturday at the Akron Stadium. After his second half substitutes, the team fell apart and the visitors clawed their way back into the game bagging an 84th minute winner.

Speaking to the media, the Serbian coach stated: “Yes indeed it is a very painful defeat, but this group will always admit their mistakes, we always assume responsibility, me first. We have to improve, consolidate our good results and build from our positive performances in the first half”.

“In the second half we didn’t do well and I take responsibility for everything. That is part of the growth and process where we are at. We have played just three games, not three years or three championships. We are consolidating a group that, due to injuries and late arrivals is still not complete”, he added.

“We played against the team that reached the final of the 2022 Apertura but we failed to control the game in the second 45′ after a solid first half. It was our responsibility to dictate the game at home but it is also due to Toluca’s ability to seize the few chances that went their way”, concluded the Chivas coach.
