After more than a decade in Paris, arriving as one of the first pieces of the Qatari mega-project, Marco Verratti has decided to leave PSG in the summer. The club, as a result, have put him on their transfer list and will listen to offers for the Italian, whose performances this year have been inconsistent, has been one of the players targeted by the PSG ultras for the French side’s poor season.

After the serious insults aimed at him by the ultras, who gathered last week in front of the PSG offices, Verratti began to consider his future in the French capital. Until then, the midfielder was untouchable by Al Khelaïfi, who even in 2017, when the player asked to sign for Barcelona, ‘forced’ him to post a video on the club’s official social networks apologising to the fans, and was later reinstated into the first team setup.

Verratti and Carlo Ancelotti are friends

As reported by RMC Sport, Verratti has Real Madrid as his number one destination. His friendship with Carlo Ancelotti, who he met at PSG and with whom he speaks continuously, is another one of the reasons why he would be seduced by swapping Paris for Madrid. However, Los Blancos have already set Bellingham as their priority for the midfield gap and have closed the door on him regarding any hypothetical transfer.

Italy and Saudi Arabia, which is willing to bathe him in gold, are other alternatives that Verratti is considering. At PSG they regret his unprofessional lifestyle and inconsistent performances, which indirectly have left him at the exit door of the club. His salary, currently at €12 million per year, will also be a hurdle for European club that sees him as an attractive proposition, meaning it will not be easy for PSG to sell him in the next summer market. The option of Real Madrid, the club that the player wants, is a very slim possibility at this moment in time.
