There are only five matches outstanding in the Premier League season earlier in the week, the governing body confirmed the times and dates of all remaining match-days with both City and Liverpool still involved in the Champions League campaign and Jurgen Klopp’s men finalists of the 21-22 FA Cup Final where the ‘Reds’ will face Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on 14 May.

Liverpool, who are firm favourites to advance to the UCL final after a comfortable win over Villarreal in the Champions League first leg on Wednesday, will play two league matches and the FA Cup final in a week, as they chase a quadruple of League Cup, FA Cup, Premier League and Champions League wins.

Villa, Newcastle and Wolves hold the key

From the remaining five league games outstanding, both the Sky Blues and the Reds have three games against Newcastle, Villa and Wolves with current Villa manager Steven Gerrard an Anfield legend and the former Liverpool player desperate to spoil a City title win on the last day of the season.

Both Wolves and Newcastle are safe from the drop zone and harbour an outside chance of securing a seventh place finish which would secure a place in UEFA’s Conference League next season.
