Vinicius Jr drops hint on Real Madrid future

The Brazilian was the MVP in the 3-0 win over Salzburg and once again expressed his loyalty to Madrid for the future.

Vinicius was back to his best. After two underwhelming performances to start the World Cup, he burst into form against Salzburg—and the Austrian side paid the price. A stunning goal, a Guti-style assist, and yet another declaration of love for Real Madrid.

He spoke to reporters briefly after the game, where that signature winning smile was back on his face.

‘This is the club of my life’

Looking ahead to his future: “My contract runs until 2027, but I hope to stay here for many more years. This is the club of my life.”

‘It’s taking me some time to readjust’

Third game under Xabi, with more intense pressing: “These have been two very good weeks. I’m gaining confidence, trying to get into games more quickly. I’m playing a bit more centrally now—tighter, more compact. We’re pressing better, defending and attacking as a unit. I played this role with Ancelotti during our last Champions League win, but it’s taking me some time to readjust.”

On the Guti-style backheel: “Everyone told me about it afterward. I haven’t seen the video yet, but I’m happy—Guti is a club legend. It’s one of the most beautiful passes I’ve made. And I’m especially happy for Valverde, because he always supports and encourages me.”

Real Madrid’s next game is scheduled for Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 3:00 PM Eastern Time when they’ll face Juventus in the Round of 16 of the Club World Cup, with the match taking place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.
