Vinicius Junior racially abused against FC Barcelona fans in El Clásico

For the 8th time this season, a complaint has been filed with regards to the racist abuse suffered by Vinicius Junior.

When will it end? When will definitive action be taken by somebody in charge? If I’m up to my eyeballs of hearing about the abhorrent, racist abuse Vinicius Junior seems to receive on an almost bi-weekly basis, what must he feel like? And while we’re all here, has anybody got a ticket for another lap on the merry-go-round?

Yet again, things appear to be going round and round in circles: here we are talking about yet another complaint filed regarding racist abuse suffered by Real Madrid’s Brazilian winger, Vinicius Junior, this time in the game against FC Barcelona in which midfielder Franck Yannick Kessié scored a late winner. Real Madrid have played 14 away matches this season. LaLiga have filed a racial abuse complaint regarding Vinicius in 8 of them. A figure of almost 60% of games.

LaLiga’s reaction to racism

To be fair, LaLiga did their part, releasing an anti-racism slogan during ‘Anti-racism week’, as well as a football kit that exists only as a collection of pixels on the 4K TV at their office, as the FIFA 23 players run around in an arbitrarily designed t-shirt with various colours on it. Maybe taking these people out of the stadiums would work better, but I’m just spitballing.

The Mallorca fan who racially abused Vinicius Junior in a game this season got his season ticket taken from him and a three-year ban from the club. The claim was also reported by LaLiga. I’ll let you find out what they did about it.

At least the LaLiga statement on the matter is easy enough to find. All you need to do is create a Twitter account and click on the link that was posted, open Telegram (a place where children regularly find illegal streams to watch LaLiga games instead of paying exorbitant prices), create another account there using the same email address, click on the photo, go back as it’s not actually the photo, click on the tiny link in blue once you go to the kitchen to find your glasses, all which takes you back to the internet browser that you logged into Twitter on - and there you go!

The statement reads as folllows:

“In view of the events that took place at the FC Barcelona-Real Madrid match, in which intolerable racist behaviour was once again observed against Vinicius Jr, LaLiga has reported the racist insults to the Barcelona Court of Instruction.

This is the eighth complaint filed by LaLiga with the corresponding authorities for racist abuse against Vinicius Jr.

In addition, in order to speed up the identification process, LaLiga has set up a complaints channel via the following link on the website www.laliga.com so that fans who may have information or any indication of the identity of the perpetrators can contact LaLiga and provide the necessary identification to file the relevant complaints.

We remind you that through stopracismo@laliga.es, and the Telegram channel @StopRacismoLaLiga, any fan can contact LaLiga to report or provide information about any racist behaviour.”

What more could Vinicius ask for.
