Update:

Weston McKennie is staying on in Turin. The 27-year-old midfielder has agreed a new long-term contract with the Italian giants as part of the club’s restructuring.

McKennie was one of eight players whose contracts are up this summer, and is the first to strike a new deal. He will remain with Juventus until June 2030 and is set to receive a significant salary increase as part of the new deal - reportedly around will earn around $4.35 million (€4 million) per season.

McKennie keen to stay at Juventus

Negotiations have been ongoing since late last year, when McKennie made it clear that his intention was to stay on with the Bianconeri. “Turin is a big part of my life. I want to do everything I can for the people here,” he told reporters back in December.

McKennie joined Juve from Schalke 04 in August 2020, initially on a one-year loan arrangement. He impressed enough for the club to exercise their purchase option just a few months later, and signed a four-year contract.

He agreed a two-year extension in August 2024 - that contract was due to expire at the end of June.

A player who can fit into several positions

The USMNT player is rated for his great versatility - he is able to slot into a number of positions, playing in a central role or out wide on either flank although at Juve, he is usually deployed in the right midfield position.

His goalscoring is also highly valued. Overall, Weston has racked up 26 goals in 2019 appearances for the club. This season, his stats are the best of his career so far - eight goals in 37 games.
