As reported by Le Parisien, Real Madrid target Kylian Mbappé had his “last supper” in Paris on Monday, with a dinner-cum-party held at well-known Italian restaurant Gigi. The outgoing Paris Saint-Germain star invited 250 guests, which included his mother and agent, Fayza Lamari, teammate Ousmane Dembélé, with whom he was seen at the Cannes Film Festival at the weekend, and younger brother Ethan, also coming through the ranks at PSG. Neither club boss Nasser Al-Khelaïfi nor French president Emmanuel Macron, who have had plenty of dealings with Mbappé of late, were in attendance.

Mbappé's PSG farewell speech leaked

One of the 250 attendees, however, leaked the contents of the 25-year-old’s post-dinner speech on social media, in which he appeared to hint his mind was made up about the next step in his career, with his potential move to Madrid yet to be confirmed.

“Here we are, as a family. I think of all the people here as loved ones, so it will be easy to speak and open my heart to everyone. There is no message to convey, no ambiguity. You truly are people whom I want to thank from the bottom of my heart. If you are here, it is because at some point you influenced my life.”

Fayza Lamari backtracks on Real Madrid-Mbappé confirmation

Before the leak, Lamari had been stopped by French media on her way out of Gigi’s and seemed to reveal her son’s next club without actually revealing it...

In addition to referencing “seven great years” in Paris, which she says Mbappé won’t miss as it is home city, she was asked when an announcement would be made about which team the France captain would be joining: “I think you already know, right?” came the initial response with a wry smile.

However, she then bizarrely backtracked immediately when asked to confirm whether he would be signing for Los Blancos: “Ah, no, I don’t know anything about that. I don’t know, honestly.”

Will Mbappé play for PSG in the French Cup final?

Real Madrid have been chasing the forward’s signing for as along as any of us can remember and, given the intense speculation, it would be a huge shock it Mbappé were to move anywhere else at this stage.

The 2022 World Cup Golden Boot winner could appear for PSG for the very last time, if selected by Luis Enrique, in the Coupe de France (French Cup final) against Lyon, which takes place on Saturday (25 May) in Lille. However, he has been carrying an injury, which has seen him miss the last two games and means his presence isn’t 100% certain.

After that, he will join up with the French national team on 29 May to begin preparations for Euro 2024, which begins on 14 June. Signing on the dotted line at the Bernabéu appears to be only a matter of time and could well take place between 25 and 29 May.
