What has happened to former Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic?

The former Real Madrid forward has not had opportunities at Milan after joining from Fiorentina.

Luka Jovic arrived at AC Milan in the summer as a last-minute reinforcement for the Rossoneri. The Italian side had been looking at various options to strengthen their forward line throughout the window and eventually recruited the Serbia international from Fiorentina on a free transfer. But Milan boss Stefano Pioli has only given Jovic 38 minutes in two games since moving to San Siro.

Olivier Giroud, Noah Okafor, Rafael Leão, Pulisic, Chukwueze and, to a lesser extent, Luka Romero, are all competing for places in the club’s forward line. He has not yet found his place and in Milan’s last match against Cagliari (1-3), he missed out due to injury.

Jovic’s early decline

Jovic’s inconsistency has led to a prolonged decline in his market value. As of today, he is far from the highest value he had in 2019. That summer, Transfermarkt valued him at €60m, after shining in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid turned their attention to him as Karim Benzema’s understudy and paid €63m for his services but he never got going at the Santiago Bernabéu. Since then his value has gone downhill and now the same website values him at just €8m.
