While Madrid continue their push to get all the points they can in the early part of the season, the club offices are buzzing with life looking ahead to the future. They are not only working on new signings but also in terms of renewals for players currently at the club. One of the players closest to sealing a new deal is Eduardo Camavinga.

According to Fabrizio Romano, a ferocious transfer tweeter, both the club and the player’s agent are close to agreeing a new contract, with the deal said to be 99% done: “Eduardo Camavinga, on the verge of extending his contract at Real Madrid. New deal will include higher salary and release clause to ‘protect’ the player. Camavinga loves Real Madrid, Real love Eduardo who’s key player for present and future. Matter of final details”, says the message on social media.

The club are delighted with the performances the Frenchman has put in during his time at Real Madrid: since minute one he has shown himself to be up to the standard that Los Blancos demand and little by little he is becoming an undisputed starter in Carlo Ancelotti’s side. All of the technical staff are very happy with his output on and off the pitch.

Camavinga is a favourite inside the dressing room

Inside the dressing room, the players rate him highly, and Camavinga gets on with everyone at the club and always acts with the team in mind: playing at left-back, despite openly admitting to not liking the position, is a great example of his willingness to adapt and help his teammates.

At the club they see the centre-midfielder as one of the natural replacements for Kroos and Modric; in the 8 games so far this season, Camavinga has started 6 and come off the bench in the other two, showing himself to be a firm favourite of the coach. The club trust his potential for growth and can see him improving over the coming years in a white shirt, ultimately becoming one of the best in the world in his position.

What can Camavinga improve at Real Madrid?

In terms of how he can improve, Madrid believe that he can have even more of an impact in terms of goal creation and execution. This season he is yet to register either a goal or an assist and last season he did not score and managed only 2 assists. His physical development and work is clear to be seen on the pitch but now is the time for him to improve in front of goal. This contrasts heavily with his debut, when he managed to score at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu after just a few minutes on the pitch.

His renewal is not yet sealed, but the conversations that are being had are certainly on the right track. It is hoped that the club can announce his renewal at the end of the season. From next year onwards he will be even more important, as this could well be Kroos and Modric’s final year in white, or at least for one of them. The faith from the club is being put in Camavinga who is convincing everyone of his worth, both on and off the pitch, and it looks like both sides will be holding hands looking towards the future.
