Gregg Berhalter has a decision to make as wide attacker Timothy Weah is a doubt for the USMNT’s upcoming Nations League quarter-final matches.

The youngster was substituted at half-time during Juventus’ 1-0 win over Verona, which was sealed thanks to a late Andrea Cambiaso goal. After the game, the Italian club confirmed the news that Weah had suffered a low-grade tear to the semitendinosus in his right thigh.

Juventus release statement on Weah injury

A club statement read: “Following the muscle problem reported during the match against Hellas Verona on Saturday evening, Timothy Weah underwent instrumental tests at J|Medical late this morning which highlighted a low-grade lesion of the semitendinosus of the right thigh. The footballer has already started the rehabilitation process aimed at resuming competitive activity.”

When will Timothy Weah be fit? Will he play for the USMNT?

He is now a serious injury doubt for the upcoming USMNT games - a two-legged tie against Trinidad & Tobago - as Juventus expect to have the player back fit and ready at the end of November when they take on Inter Milan in the Derby d’Italia, once the international break has concluded.

The games for the USA are crucial as they can potentially grant access for Berhalter’s side to the semi-final stage of the CONCACAF Nations League, bringing them a step closer to sealing the trophy for the third time after already winning it in 2019-20 and 2022-23.
