How did New England, América reach the quarter-finals?

América reached the last eight by knocking out Chivas in an exciting, all-Mexican round of 16 tie. André Jardine’s men were 3-0 winners in the first leg in Guadalajara, before surviving a major second-leg scare to advance.

Chivas threatened to turn the tie around at the Azteca, first-half goals by Cade Cowell and Ricardo Marín leaving Los Rojiblancos within touching distance of a sensational comeback.
