Update:
After going down 3-2 at home to the Chicago Fire on Saturday, Inter Miami have now suffered three straight defeats and have dropped to ninth in the East.

Inter Miami stumbled again on Saturday, losing their third game in a row in Major League Soccer. This time they were beaten by the Chicago Fire, who snatched their first victory of the 2023 season right at the death.

Kamara consigns Miami to another defeat

Kei Kamara was the hero for Chicago, firing home the winner in the second minute of time added on at DRV PNK Stadium.

Kamara’s dramatic late goal came after Miami had recovered from a 2-0 deficit to level the match in Florida, Franco Negri and Nicolás Stefanelli cancelling out Christopher Mueller and Carlos Terán’s first-half strikes for the visitors.

Miami’s winning MLS start evaporates

Miami began the season with two straight wins, keeping clean sheets in both - but with five games now played, their 2-3-0 record, which leaves them with six points from a possible 15, has seen them slip down to ninth position in the Eastern Conference standings.

As things stand, only goal difference is keeping Phil Neville’s men in the playoff spots ahead of Toronto FC and the New York Red Bulls.

Tough away assignment up next

And in their next match on Saturday 1 April, Miami face a tough task as they bid to return to winning ways in MLS. The David Beckham-owned franchise visits FC Cincinnati, who remain unbeaten this season and currently sit second in the East, with 11 points.

Inter Miami’s inconsistent start to MLS season:

  • Inter Miami 2-0 Montreal
  • Inter Miami 2-0 Philadelphia
  • New York City FC 1-0 Inter Miami
  • Toronto FC 2-0 Inter Miami
  • Inter Miami 2-3 Chicago Fire
