Update:

Despite all the money, all the superstars, and all their domestic success, the Champions League had always evaded Paris Saint-Germain.

They went into Saturday’s final against Inter Milan as the narrow favorites but they romped into an early lead, dominating the entire game at Munich’s Allianz Arena. Goals from Achraf Hakimi and Desire Doue gave PSG a two-goal halftime lead and they continued pushing after the break.

That left them within striking distance of the biggest-ever Champions League final win. Subsequent goals from Doue, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Senny Mayulu gave them a historic 5-0 victory, the biggest in Champions League final history.

Previously, the biggest win in European soccer’s biggest game was the 1993/94 Champions League final, which finished AC Milan 4-0 Barcelona. It was Johan Cruyff’s Barcelona ‘Dream Team’ but Fabio Capello’s Milan came out as four-goal winners.

Previously, there had been three European Cup finals that also ended with four-goal margins: Real Madrid 7-3 Frankfurt (18/05/1960); Bayern 4-0 Atlético (17/05/1974); and AC Milan 4-0 Steaua (24/05/1989).
