It has been 20 years since Jorge Vergara purchased the rights to Chivas, which marked the beginning of the route for the team to regain its glory. And at a time like this, Chivas could not sit idle and watch it go by. As a result, with the assistance of Puma, they produced a shirt that harkens back to that era.

It is essential to remember that the formation of Club Deportivo Guadalajara S.A. de C.V. was directly attributable to Jorge Vergara’s arrival at the club.

The first jersey that Jorge Vergara had the team wear after he took over as chairman served as the basis for this one. This shirt is characterized by its classic and minimalist design, its cleanliness, its absence of sponsors, and the presence of details in gold, which are interpreted as having a more refined appearance.

How will the jersey look like?

According to the club, the front design features the distinctive red and white stripes associated with the club,  the Chivas shield, and the famous Puma “bigcat” positioned in the center. It has the same color and stripe design on the garment’s back and sleeves. The blue polo collar is a striking contrast to the red and white stripes on the rest of the shirt. There is also the word “Chivas,” which is written in gold and can be found in the fold of the neck. This is meant to draw to mind historical events that brought honor to Chivas.

The word “bigcat” appears on the reverse, next to Jorge Vergara’s signature in the same color, which is also printed on the item. Finally, a sentence that pays tribute to the past two decades can be found in the lower section.

What happened to Jorge Vergara
