Revealed: Bayern Munich fans’ large-scale display for team’s entrance against Real Madrid
Inside the Alllianz Arena, Bayern fans unfurled a massive tifo ahead of today’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid.
Bayern Munich fans unfurled a spectacular mosaic in the moments before tonight’s crunch clash with Real Madrid - having kept details about its design firmly under wraps in the leadup to the game.
As the teams made their entrance at the Allianz Arena, supporters held up colored cards that created an image of an individual dressed in a Bayern shirt, holding a soccer ball. Beneath the display, a message read: “It’s all in our hands.”
“Closely guarded secret”
In the buildup to tonight’s quarterfinal second leg, the German newspaper Bild had revealed Bayern fans’ secretive plans to greet the teams with a “large-scale choreography”.
“The content [of the display] remains a closely guarded secret among the supporters, to ensure it comes as a surprise to the players themselves," Bild said earlier today.
Bayern’s “All in Red” clarion cry
Ahead of today’s game, the Bundesliga giants also joined Bayern fan groups in issuing a call for home supporters to follow an “All in Red” dress code at the Allianz this evening.
In a social-media video posted on Tuesday, Bayern vice-captain Joshua Kimmich told fans of the club: “We’re now getting to the point in the season where it really matters. We the players, you the fans, we all dream of these games.
“So, we need you. We’ll give our all, go to the limit. All of you, come in red and we’ll push hard together.”
Bernabéu decked out in Real mosaic
Bayern host Madrid eight days after a 2-1 first-leg win at the Bernabéu - a stadium that also witnessed a major pre-match display by fans in the stands.
As the players emerged from the tunnel last week, supporters created a 360-degree mosaic featuring Real Madrid’s initials and colors, as well as an early club crest and the year Los Blancos were founded, 1902.
