Barcelona took a huge stride toward a second successive LaLiga title thanks to Saturday’s 2-1 victory away to Osasuna. Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres struck in the final 10 minutes, extending Barça’s lead at the top and piling pressure on Real Madrid, who travel to Espanyol on Sunday.

What Barcelona’s win over Osasuna means for LaLiga

Barcelona’s victory at El Sadar means they have moved 14 points ahead of Real Madrid, who have five games left to play. If Álvaro Arbeloa’s team fail to win at Espanyol, Barça will be confirmed as LaLiga champions before El Clásico, which takes place at Spotify Camp Nou on May 10.

Madrid will keep Barcelona waiting if they pick up three points against Espanyol, maintaining the 11-point gap that was in place at the start of the weekend. That would give the Catalans the chance to clinch the title by beating their rivals in next weekend’s Clásico. A draw would also be enough for Hansi Flick’s team.

The only way Madrid could prolong the title race, if it can still be called that, is by winning El Clásico.

Barcelona need just one victory from their remaining games to clinch the title, regardless of what Madrid do.

Barcelona will face Real Madrid in El Clásico at Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday, May 10. The game in Catalonia kicks off at 9 p.m. local time, 3 p.m. ET and 12 p.m. PT.
