SERIE A
When was the last time Napoli won the Serie A title?
Napoli can lift the Serie A title this weekend.
Napoli are closer than ever to clinching the Serie A title after Giacomo Raspadori’s late winner earned the Partenopei a 1-0 win away to Juventus on Sunday.
The victory means that if the league leaders beat Salernitana at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Saturday and Lazio fail to win away to Inter the following day, they will be crowned Serie A champions.
Winning the Italian title will end a 33-year-long wait for the club’s third Scudetto.
Maradona at Napoli
Their last success came in 1990 when Diego Maradona helped the southern outfit lift the league title. Maradona, after joining from Barcelona, led Napoli to their only two Italian championships, in 1987 and 1990.
Juventus, Milan and Inter have all dominated Italian football in recent times but the arrival of head coach Luciano Spalletti at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona is set to change that.
Kvaratskhelia key
Napoli’s squad is full of talent. Victor Osimhen, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Frank Anguissa have been key signings for a club that sold their most talented players before the beginning of the current campaign, including Fabián Ruiz, Kalidou Koulibaly and Dries Mertens.
How many times have Napoli won the Coppa Italia?
The Serie club have won the Coppa Italia six times, with their most recent victory coming in 2019-20.
