Erling Haaland handed Manchester City a major boost when he returned to training earlier this week.

Haaland, who has scored 19 goals in all competitions this season, was on the sidelines due to a foot injury and had not featured for City since their 1-0 Premier League defeat away to Aston Villa on 6 December.

Ahead of their third-round FA Cup tie against Huddersfield Town on Sunday, the Norway international trained with the City squad.

Guardiola: Haaland feels good

“Erling is a little better, his bone so we need to be careful, [he’s had] two or three sessions and feels good,” Pep Guardiola said in his press conference on Friday.

“Hopefully [he will be able to play soon but], I don’t know for Sunday or for Newcastle, but for the rest, they will be ready.”

Haaland could be handed minutes at the Etihad Stadium this weekend, most likely off the bench to help regain his match fitness ahead of the Newcastle match at St James’ Park in the Premier League on January 13.
