World Cup 2026

Fox Sports hires Ibrahimović as a soccer analyst: “A World Cup without me wouldn’t be a World Cup” | Zlatan’s best quotes

Ask Zlatan Ibrahimović a question on any subject and he will speak his mind - however outspoken his views might seem. He’s also an authority on the game having won silverware at almost every club he has played for (10) and as one of 26 players to have racked up over 500 career goals. That’s why Fox have brought Ibra onboard to be part of the network’s broadcasting team covering this summer’s World Cup.

Zlatan hung his boots up for good in 2023, and since then has remained involved in the game, working as an advisor at AC Milan.

Outspoken, unabashed...

Never one to mince his words, Ibrahimović left no one indifferent with his comments and opinions during his playing days. Occasionally, his outspoken views would land him in hot water or cause offense. So expect more of the same when the World Cup kicks off this June. In the meantime, let’s take a look back at some of his more outlandish remarks.

Presented at PSG: "We are looking for an apartment; if we do not find anything, then we will just buy a hotel."

When asked if he would continue in Paris: “I'll stay if they replace the Eiffel Tower with a statue of me.”

On departure from PSG: “I came like a hero, left like a legend.”

Moving on from LA Galaxy: "You wanted Zlatan, I gave you Zlatan. You are welcome. The story continues... Now go back to watch baseball.""

On joining Manchester United: I can’t help but laugh at how perfect I am.”

His spat with Ajax teammate Rafael van der Vaart: I didn’t injure you on purpose, and you know that. If you accuse me again I’ll break both your legs, and that time it will be on purpose.”

When asked for a prediction ahead of Sweden's World Cup playoff against Portugal: "Only God knows... You’re talking to him now."

After losing that playoff: One thing’s for sure, a World Cup without me is nothing to watch.”

Unhappiness at how Pep Guardiola was deploying him at Barcelona: "You bought a Ferrari, but you drive it like a Fiat."

Guardiola was staring at me and I lost it. I thought 'there is my enemy, scratching his bald head!'. I yelled to him: 'You have no balls!' and 'You can go to hell!'

Reaching 500 goals against Toronto FC: "I'm happy for Toronto because they'll be remembered as my 500th victim."
